Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce's Student Athlete Summit Inspires the Next Generation
The Jamaica Observer spotlights the impact of The Pocket Rocket Foundation's Second Annual Student Athlete Summit, an initiative founded by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’ to empower the next generation of leaders on and off the field. Held under the theme "Ready. Set. Accelerate.", the Summit brought together more than 150 student-athletes from over 30 high schools across Jamaica, as well as invited participants from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, for a day of mentorship, leadership development, and personal growth. The feature also recognizes the Foundation's broader impact, having awarded nearly 120 academic scholarships over the past 13 years while continuing to invest in the education and holistic development of young student-athletes across Jamaica.
Reflecting on the mission behind the Summit, Shelly-Ann shared, "We want student-athletes to come out, and we want to reinforce the things that they are going through year after year. An athlete last year was a champion, but this year they may need that motivation to fuel them for the next season. We want them to focus on knowing who they are outside of their sport and use it as a stepping stone to education, purpose, and serving their community."
